Welcome to Family Faith Formation at Acton Congregational Church
The purpose of this website is to help the families of Acton Congregational Church stay connected to our Sunday morning children's program and special activities, and to provide you with interactive resources for your family to engage in at home. Now you can be forming the faith of your children not only by bringing them to church on Sunday morning, but also in ways that fit your family's schedule and meet your family's needs. It is a joy to walk beside your family as together we pass along the faith to the next generation. Fix these words of mine in your hearts and minds; tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Teach them to your children, talking about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates.....Deuteronomy 11:18-20
Family Faith Formation @ Home God-filled activities for October
Prayer: While not written by St. Francis, the prayer that begins with "Lord, make me an instrument of they peace" summarizes what Christians are called to do. Learn the prayer with your children and encourage them to draw pictures that reflect what the prayer says to them. Learn about Faith: Take your family outdoors to spend time in nature, slow down, and see the evidence of the awesomeness of God through the world the Creator has made. Find God's Fingerprints! Ritual and Tradition: Halloween can be a scary time for young children. Masks on otherwise familiar people and scary decorations in the neighborhood or in stores can make this fun holiday a fearful time for little ones. Remind them that the light of God is always with them with this activity: Lighting the Darkness Caring Conversation: Around Columbus Day or a long school break weekend, dream together about places you would like to visit and what it might be like to be God's people in a different place. Where Would You Go? Learn about the Bible:To celebrate the fall apple harvest, take some time to enjoy making and eating an apple treat. Then learn about the fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23), which is part of our daily lives. Serve Others:Whether you have a pet or not, your family can help others through the love of animals. Well-behaved, friendly pets have a way of opening people's hearts.
